How it’s worked out
Commission per stay
Room price × nights × commission rate. A 3‑night stay at 120 a night with 18% commission costs 64.80 in commission.
What you keep
The stay’s price minus the commission. In the example, 360 − 64.80 = 295.20, or 98.40 a night instead of 120.
Per month and per year
Commission per stay × the bookings that come through booking sites. The yearly figure is the number to set against the cost of your own booking page.

How much commission do booking sites charge hotels?
It varies by site, country and contract, and is often somewhere between 15% and 25% of the room price. Check your own contract: the rate, and whether it is charged on the price with or without tax.
Should I stop using booking sites?
Usually not. They bring guests who would never have found you. The aim is to win back the guests who would book you directly anyway: repeat guests, locals and people who already know your name.
What does a direct booking cost instead?
Your own booking page’s fee, any card payment fee, and what you spend to send guests to it. With BedKeys Direct there is no commission on bookings from your booking page. Booking page
Is tax included in the calculation?
Leave tax out and type the room price before tax, unless your contract charges commission on the price with tax.
